Builth Wells High Street Recovers Vital Cash Machine with Local Support

Remember when Builth Wells was down a crucial service? Well, good news! A fantastic local business has stepped up to bring a 24/7 cash machine back to our high street. This isn’t just about cash; it’s about supporting our community and local shops. Who’s excited to see our town thrive even more?

The heart of Builth Wells has been revitalised with the long-awaited return of a crucial cash machine to its bustling town centre, marking a significant win for local residents and the wider local economy. This reinstatement ensures essential cash access for the community, a service deeply missed since the departure of a major banking institution earlier in the year.

For over a year, the absence of accessible cash services in the town centre posed considerable challenges for shoppers and businesses alike. Following Barclays bank’s withdrawal from Builth Wells in March 2024, the primary ATM was also removed, leaving a tangible void in the town’s financial services infrastructure and forcing many to seek alternatives further afield.

Stepping boldly into this critical gap are Gareth and Lauren Davies, the dedicated owners of Nice Find UK. Recognizing the pressing need within their community, they embarked on a determined mission spanning many months to re-establish a 24/7 cash machine, demonstrating remarkable community support and entrepreneurial spirit.

Gareth Davies articulated the “clear need” for round-the-clock ATM availability on the high street, underscoring its importance not just for immediate cash withdrawals but also for sustaining the vibrancy of local commerce. Their proactive stance highlights a commitment to fostering a thriving environment where businesses and residents can prosper.

The positive news quickly resonated throughout Builth Wells, with the Town Council itself taking to its official Facebook page earlier this week to share an image of the newly installed ATM. This public acknowledgement underscored the collective relief and celebration surrounding the restoration of this vital amenity.

With this new addition at Nice Find UK, Builth Wells now boasts two operational cash machines within the town, significantly improving financial convenience for everyone. The other ATM is conveniently located at the Co-op, just off Brecon Road, ensuring broader coverage and ease of access for the entire population.

Local residents have been effusive in their praise for the initiative. Diane Powell commended the shop owners, extending a “big thank you” for their efforts, while Pamela Drake described the ATM as “much needed and helpful.” Susie Stockton-Link encapsulated the prevailing sentiment, expressing that she was “utterly delighted” with the news, reflecting widespread public appreciation.

The journey of Nice Find UK, from its initial furniture shop opening in Llandrindod Wells in 2014 to its current diversified business model shaped by the challenges of Covid-19, exemplifies the resilience and adaptability of local business. Their willingness to invest in the town’s infrastructure speaks volumes about their dedication beyond mere commerce.

Ultimately, the reintroduction of the cash machine is more than just a convenience; it is a catalyst for the ongoing high street revival, encouraging people to frequent local establishments and spend their money within the community. This benefits not only the local shops but serves everyone who relies on accessible cash, reinforcing the town’s economic fabric.
