Carmine Gears Up for Annual Armed Forces Appreciation Dinner & Dance

Carmine, Texas, is gearing up for a bustling September, highlighted by its much-anticipated second annual Armed Forces Appreciation Dinner and Dance. This significant community gathering, designed to honor the dedication and sacrifices of service members, promises an evening of camaraderie and celebration. Tickets for this esteemed event are currently available, with a deadline set for September 2nd, ensuring ample time for residents to secure their participation in this heartfelt tribute.

The appreciation dinner and dance is scheduled to take place on Saturday, September 13th, at the historic Knights of Columbus Hall, located at 190 S. Brown St in La Grange. Priced at $20 per ticket, admission grants entry to a meaningful ceremony commencing at 4 p.m., followed by a vibrant evening filled with delicious food, engaging fun, various games, an exciting silent auction, and lively dancing. Tickets can be conveniently purchased from Carmine State Bank and Round Top State Bank, making it accessible for everyone to join in the festivities.

Beyond the celebratory dinner, Carmine’s community calendar is brimming with various sports activities, keeping local athletes engaged. The Round Top-Carmine varsity volleyball team is set to compete in the demanding Bryan tournament at Legends Center from August 28th to 30th. Meanwhile, the junior high volleyball team will face off against Burton on August 28th at 5 p.m., showcasing the town’s commitment to fostering athletic talent. Both the JV and varsity teams will host Schulenburg on September 2nd at 5 p.m., promising exciting home-court action for local sports enthusiasts.

Community support also shines through the active engagement of the Future Farmers of America (FFA) officers. These dedicated young leaders recently initiated their year by visiting the Round Top-Carmine chapter of the Young Farmers meeting, demonstrating a commitment to agricultural education and collaboration. The FFA officers expressed profound gratitude for the continuous support that the Young Farmers provide to their members, underscoring the vital intergenerational connections within Carmine’s agricultural community.

Culinary delights await with the upcoming fried chicken dinner fundraiser, graciously sponsored by Carmine Hall on Sunday, September 21st. This popular event offers a convenient carry-out only service from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., providing a perfect Sunday meal. For just $15 per plate, attendees will enjoy a generous half chicken accompanied by trimmings. Additionally, a selection of tempting desserts will be available, with donations supporting the local scholarship fund, contributing to the educational future of Carmine’s youth.

Another significant fundraising effort is the second annual Shrimp Boil fundraiser, organized by the RT-C Booster Club, slated for Saturday, September 27th. This year, the event will be held at the Round Top Rifle Hall, offering a festive atmosphere. Happy Hour will kick off the evening at 5 p.m., followed by the meal service at 6 p.m. Patrons have the option to secure a VIP table for 10 at $1,200 or a table for eight at $700. For those seeking a touch of glamour and excitement, tickets are now available online for a “fun evening” featuring the chance to win 10 designer purses, complemented by refreshing drinks and light bites. Furthermore, Carmine Hall is orchestrating monthly drawings from September 2025 to August 2026, adding a layer of anticipation and long-term engagement. On the third Tuesday of each month, three tickets will be drawn—two for firearms and one for a $500 gift card—with winning tickets re-entered for subsequent drawings, increasing the odds for participants.

The spirit of community extends to appreciation and spiritual life within Carmine. Fifty-five dedicated teachers and staff from RT-C were honored with a breakfast on August 7th, acknowledging their invaluable contributions. The four churches in the Crossroads Shared Ministry will convene in Carmine for Advent services, fostering a sense of shared faith. Pastor John David Nedbalek from Round Top will preach for all three services, to be held in the Fellowship Hall. Additionally, St. Paul Lutheran Church of Shelby invites ladies to its salad supper on August 31st at 4 p.m., with the Western Cluster Fall Gathering at MLLC on September 27th, and the Harvest Festival planned for October 19th at Carmine Hall, culminating in a Reformation service on October 16th at Lutherhill.

Rounding out the community news, the Carmine Chamber of Commerce Visitors’ Center at the beautifully restored Train Depot and Museum continues to welcome guests on the second Friday and Saturday of each month, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., offering a glimpse into local history and culture. Lastly, the community extends warm birthday wishes to its cherished residents: Lyndell Woodruff (Aug. 28); Kylan Koehl and Cindy Weidemann (Aug. 29); Rene’ Runge, Neil Weigelt, and Bradley Wunderlich (Aug. 30); twins Ervin Viertel and Gladys Torn (Aug. 31); Frank Ratka (Sept. 1); and Anita Drydale (Sept. 3), celebrating the individuals who make Carmine a vibrant place to live.
