Anton Francis “Tony” Luttenberger, a cherished resident of Great Barrington, passed away recently at the age of 80, leaving behind a legacy remembered through upcoming celebrations of his vibrant life. Tony succumbed to a recently diagnosed battle with cancer on August 22, 2025, at Albany Medical Center in Albany, N.Y. His peaceful passing marks the end of a long and fulfilling life that touched many, prompting reflections on his journey and contributions.

Born in Brooklyn, N.Y., on October 11, 1944, Tony was the beloved son of Barbara Spann Luttenberger and Anton F. Luttenberger. His early years in New York laid the foundation for a life characterized by intellectual curiosity and community engagement, graduating from Archbishop Malloy High School and Stonybrook University.

An informal celebration of Tony’s life is scheduled for Sunday, August 31, 2025, at the Berkshire South Community Center, located at 15 Crissey Road in Great Barrington, MA. The community is invited to gather from 1 to 4:30 p.m. to share memories and pay their respects in a relaxed and comforting atmosphere.

Preceding the informal celebration, a graveside service will be held on Friday, August 29, at 11 a.m., at the Sandisfield Center Cemetery on Route 57 in Sandisfield. Pastor Janet McKinstry will officiate this solemn service, followed by an additional Celebration of Life event at the Izaak Walton Field on Tannery Road in Otis, providing further opportunity for remembrance.

In lieu of traditional condolences, the family has requested that those wishing to honor Tony consider performing an anonymous act of goodness.
