The new Champions League season is set to ignite with a series of captivating encounters, as the group stage draw has pitted European giants against each other, promising a spectacle of elite club football from the outset.

Reigning Champions League holders Paris Saint-Germain find themselves in a formidable group, slated to face German powerhouse Bayern Munich and Spanish titans Barcelona. This early clash of former finalists and perennial contenders ensures high-stakes drama and a true test of their championship credentials from the very beginning of the tournament.

Record 15-time winners Real Madrid also face an arduous path, drawing English Premier League heavyweights Manchester City and Liverpool. The fixture against Manchester City marks a fifth consecutive season these two rivals will meet, while Liverpool’s encounter will see former Anfield favorite Trent Alexander-Arnold return, now donning the white of Real Madrid, adding a poignant storyline to this Champions League fixture.

Beyond their headline fixtures, Paris Saint-Germain will navigate matches against Tottenham Hotspur, Newcastle United, Atalanta, and Bayer Leverkusen in the new league phase format. Meanwhile, Real Madrid’s journey includes a home tie against Juventus and an unexpected trip to Eastern Europe to face Kazakhstan’s Kairat Almaty, who surprised many by qualifying for the first time.

Last season’s top-performing league phase team, Liverpool, is slated for challenging contests against Inter Milan, Atletico Madrid, and Eintracht Frankfurt, further intensifying the competition. Bayern Munich’s schedule is equally demanding, with fixtures against Chelsea, Arsenal, and Club Brugge, setting the stage for more thrilling European football in the group stage.

Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City will host Borussia Dortmund, Bayer Leverkusen, and Napoli, alongside their away fixtures against Real Madrid and Villarreal. Arsenal, who reached the semi-finals last season, also confront Atletico Madrid and Club Brugge, but their most significant challenge will be against Bayern Munich, a formidable side they have historically struggled against in this elite competition.

The Premier League boasts the highest representation in the Champions League tournament with six clubs, including last season’s top five and Europa League winners Tottenham. Newcastle United’s return to the Champions League is met with a challenging draw, placing them in Pot Four and requiring them to overcome teams like Barcelona, Paris Saint-Germain, Benfica, and Bayer Leverkusen to advance to the knockout phase.

The league phase commences on September 16th and concludes on January 28th, featuring 36 teams across eight matchdays. The knockout rounds are set to begin in February, culminating in the grand final on May 30th at the Puskas Arena in Budapest. Notably, Chelsea received a special award for their unique achievement of winning multiple major European club football titles, solidifying their legacy.
