Blackhawk Technical College athletes have officially launched their fall sports seasons, with both the women’s volleyball and men’s golf teams facing early tests in their respective opening tournaments. The Blackhawk Technical College women’s volleyball squad commenced its season at the UW Health Sports Factory, navigating a demanding opening tournament schedule. Despite a competitive field, the spikers demonstrated flashes of potential, laying the groundwork for improvement as they progress deeper into their season campaign. A notable highlight for the Blackhawk Tech volleyball team was securing their first significant victory of the new season against the South Suburban College Bulldogs. Dominating the match with strong offensive plays and solid defense, the spikers swept their opponents in straight sets, recording scores of 25-18, 25-16, and 25-20. This decisive win provides a significant morale boost and reinforces the team’s capabilities as they continue their season opener.
Shifting focus to the links, the Blackhawk Technical College men’s golf team also began its competitive season, participating in the Highland 36 Tournament held in Freeport. This event marked the inaugural outing for the Talons, presenting an immediate opportunity to gauge individual and team performance against other regional collegiate golf programs, adding to the rich tapestry of Wisconsin sports.
Following an intensive day of continuous play at the Park Hills Golf Course, the Talons concluded the golf tournament with a combined score of +136. This placed them in 19th position among 21 participating teams. Illinois Central College ultimately claimed the top spot with an impressive +8, highlighting the competitive standards of the collegiate golf circuit and providing the Blackhawk Tech golfers with valuable insights into areas for development after their season opener.
Reflecting on the Highland 36 Tournament, Talons head coach Nick Hagen expressed appreciation for the event’s overall execution.
