A recent incident in Washington, D.C., has led to the swift termination of a Department of Justice paralegal, highlighting the stringent expectations of conduct for federal employees. The employee was dismissed following allegations of repeatedly displaying highly inappropriate behavior towards members of the National Guard, an act that sparked immediate internal investigation and disciplinary action.

Elizabeth Baxter, who served in the DOJ’s environmental division, was reportedly seen making offensive gestures and uttering derogatory remarks directed at National Guard service members during her commute. The initial incident occurred near the Metro Center Metro Stop, where she allegedly flipped off a guardsman and declared, “F–k the National Guard,” on August 18.

Disturbingly, Baxter did not keep her actions private; she reportedly boasted about her conduct to a security guard upon arriving at the DOJ’s “4CON” building in the NoMa district. This open admission of National Guard insult indicated a lack of remorse and a disregard for the gravity of her actions, further cementing the case for DOJ misconduct.

Later on the same day, Baxter was allegedly observed repeating her defiant gesture, sticking up her middle finger at the National Guard and exclaiming, “F–k you!” This consistent pattern of behavior escalated the seriousness of the situation, demonstrating a deliberate and repeated affront to uniformed personnel stationed in the capital.

Attorney General Pam Bondi confirmed the federal employee termination, stating that action was taken against the DOJ employee for “inappropriate conduct towards National Guard service members.” A termination letter, issued after a thorough investigation into her conduct, officially removed Baxter from her position as Paralegal Specialist, effective immediately, underscoring the swift government accountability for such actions.

This incident unfolds amidst a period of heightened security in Washington DC law enforcement, with the federal government actively boosting the presence of law enforcement to combat rising crime rates. Hundreds of federal agents and National Guard troops have been deployed to the city’s streets as part of a broader federal initiative to enhance public safety and order in the district.

The dismissal of Elizabeth Baxter echoes a similar recent event where another DOJ paralegal, Sean Charles Dunn, was also terminated. Dunn faced allegations of throwing a sandwich at a Customs and Border Protection agent earlier this month, indicating a troubling trend of disrespect from federal employees towards those maintaining public order and security.

These high-profile federal employee terminations serve as a stark reminder that federal service demands a high degree of professionalism and respect for all individuals, especially those in uniform. The decisive action taken by Pam Bondi action sends a clear message about the consequences of misconduct within government ranks, reinforcing public trust and upholding the integrity of the Department of Justice.
