Wrexham Football Club is reportedly intensifying its efforts to bolster its squad ahead of the upcoming transfer deadline, with a significant focus on acquiring highly-rated Monza defender Andrea Carboni, a move that could reshape their defensive line-up.

The Welsh club, co-owned by Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney, is understood to be actively monitoring Carboni’s situation. However, their pursuit faces formidable competition from Major League Soccer side LAFC, who are also keen to secure the services of the former Italy Under-21 international.

Andrea Carboni, a 24-year-old center-back, has garnered considerable attention in recent weeks. Reports from Nicolo Schira indicate that his current club, newly-relegated Italian outfit Monza, has already rebuffed multiple bids for the talented defender, signaling his high value in the market.

Wrexham’s urgency to strengthen their defense stems from a challenging start to their Championship campaign, having conceded seven goals in their opening three matches, resulting in two losses and a draw. Carboni’s arrival could see him integrated into a revamped backline alongside recent additions like Empoli’s Liberato Cacace, former England international Joe Rodon, and promising prospect Callum Doyle.

Beyond Carboni, manager Phil Parkinson has hinted at further transfer activity, publicly acknowledging the club’s interest in Welsh international midfielder Jordan James, currently plying his trade at French side Rennes.
